Star Tribune & Pioneer Press
POSTED BY RFG ON 4/3/09What a weekend this is starting to be. We are featured in both the Star Tribune & Pioneer Press (see below) to promote the release of our latest record and if you have the strength after a hard night you will join us from 8am-9am on NBC's Kare 11 Saturday morning news. We know it's early so if you miss it we will be posting the video on our site later this weekend. Opening for one of the biggest local acts, G.B. Leighton, can only add up to one thing. This show is going to be huge! Hope to see you out there. STAR TRIBUNE: Watch out, Daughtry: Hard-working hard-rock quartet Room for Gray, led by namesake singer/guitarist James Gray, effectively channels Bon Jovi, Matchbox 20 and other lovelorn but manly hitmakers on its fourth disc, "The Next Step." The disc even ends with a classic-sounding power ballad, "Know (That I'll Stay)." The Gray team opens for G.B. Leighton at his namesake venue G.B. Leighton's Pickle Park in Fridley on Saturday to promote the disc. PIONEER PRESS: Room for Gray have never been considered a particularly cool local band, but they're also more likely than most to find success beyond the Twin Cities. they play straightforward, radio-friendly rock akin to Matchbox 20 and the Fray, and they've just put out their fourth album, "The Next Step," which is filled with riff-heavy rockers and a few slower tracks begging for the lighters-aloft treatment. They will pop up on KARE-11 during the far-too-early 8 a.m. hour on Saturday and, much later that night, will play a CD-release gig at Pickle Park in Fridley.
